Do we really need another hockey league!?

http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | Believe it or not, there is a group of people who feel there is not enough pro hockey available in North America and plan to fill that void by creating a new league.

Here's some advice to the people who think that the public will be ready for a new incarnation of the World Hockey Association in the fall of 2004: The money you will lose on this venture would be put to better use at homeless shelters or for medical research or buying musical instruments for school districts who can't afford them.

This version of the WHA will not get badly needed positive publicity from sportswriters and will barely get any TV money. there will be little corporate money flowing into it.

Vince McMahon could not sell second rate football, and a new WHA will be a second rate league in the eyes of many.

The new WHA apparently will also be in second tier cities operating in a tough economical environment. Even if the NHL locks out its players in the fall of 2004, the WHA won't get much traction.

WHA investors should talk to McMahon and Dick Ebersole about the XFL and then donate their money to better causes than hockey.
