Shopping angst . Picked up chicken and eggs and went to pay. Once in line I asked the cashier what should go first, the chicken or eggs. Received blank look.   —   Rabbi Benjamin Rickman

Assessing Sharon's Complex Legacy
By Jonathan Tobin

When larger-than-life figures such as former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon die, writers struggle to adequately summarize their legacies. But few historic leaders are as difficult to assess as Ariel Sharon

Ariel the Evil: Falsehoods as Fact Already Aplenty
By Alex Safian, PhD

Sharon's body wasn't even cold before the lies and distortions by "respectable" media began.

How to avoid dangerous drug interactions
By Harvard Health Letters

Drugs are intended to treat medical conditions and help you feel better, but they can also have side effects and interactions. An estimated 100,000 Americans ages 65 and older are hospitalized each year for adverse drug reactions, according to a 2011 study in The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM)

PERSONAL NOTE FROM JWR'S EDITOR IN CHIEF

My friend:

One of those marketing gurus I consulted to figure out how to get more folks to respond to our annual appeal was certain that you wouldn't read this note.

He said I should rather use as the headline something like "The end" or "It's over". Then follow-up with something like: "Not the site . . . but the appeal. Well, at least after tomorrow."

I told him that doing so was wrong. Not to mention it would leave most of my readers feeling played.

"Guidance" like that is one of the reasons I generally ignore "expert advice".

Heck, if I listened to all the know-it-alls, I'd never have launched JWR in the first place. I'd still be toiling in "mainstream media" covering mayhem and muck --- actually, being covered by it.

Sixteen years ago I decided to use my journalism skills to create a force for good. This site has had its ups and downs, but it has survived.

It has only survived because of you.

I could go on and on about all of our features and motivating folks to be better and do good.

I don't think I need to.

You know what I do.

You are gaining from this site in so many ways.

I'm asking for your help to allow me to continue by expressing your generosity today via our secure server.

I have faith that you will come through. I just know you will.

I'd really hate to prove the marketing gurus correct and send out a letter with the subject line "It's over" ---- not as a ploy but for real.
