PERSONAL NOTE FROM JWR'S EDITOR IN CHIEF

My friend:

One of those marketing gurus I consulted to figure out how to get more folks to respond to our annual appeal was certain that you wouldn't read this note.

He said I should rather use as the headline something like "The end" or "It's over". Then follow-up with something like: "Not the site . . . but the appeal. Well, at least after tomorrow."

I told him that doing so was wrong. Not to mention it would leave most of my readers feeling played.

"Guidance" like that is one of the reasons I generally ignore "expert advice".

Heck, if I listened to all the know-it-alls, I'd never have launched JWR in the first place. I'd still be toiling in "mainstream media" covering mayhem and muck --- actually, being covered by it.

Sixteen years ago I decided to use my journalism skills to create a force for good. This site has had its ups and downs, but it has survived.

It has only survived because of you.

I could go on and on about all of our features and motivating folks to be better and do good.

I don't think I need to.

You know what I do.

You are gaining from this site in so many ways.

I'm asking for your help to allow me to continue by expressing your generosity today via our secure server.

I have faith that you will come through. I just know you will.

I'd really hate to prove the marketing gurus correct and send out a letter with the subject line "It's over" ---- not as a ploy but for real.

In gratitude and friendship,
Binyamin L. Jolkovsky,
Editor in Chief

Strawberries are health and nutrition powerhouses
By Anne Bliss

"Eat your strawberries!" certainly isn't invoked as often as "Eat your spinach!" But it turns out that in addition to being juicy and delicious, strawberries may rival spinach--and most other foods--in health benefits. You'll be quite surprised what these mighty little berries can do:
