It's probably safe to say that most every girl dreams of her own fabulous fairy tale wedding. I say "most" because in our politically correct woke society, there are going to be exceptions. But exceptions are not the majority, that's why they are called exceptions. So I will state categorically that not every single girl dreams of a fairy tale wedding.

BUT most of them do. Well, I hope that satisfies everyone. Or at least most everyone.

Boys don't dream of having a fairy tale wedding. (Okay, most boys don't. But let's not get into that again!) Boys dream of being a big league baseball all-star or a hot superstar rock musician or maybe the latest tech billionaire. Many boys want to be heroes of some sort. But a girl wants to be the leading lady and star of her own movie; the glamorous fairy tale wedding movie co-starring her own personal prince charming, with thousands of envious guests attending.

Not all girls actually get to live out that dream. Some come close, but usually the wedding that eventually comes about for her just doesn't live up to the fairy tale expectation. Unless, of course, your name is Taylor Swift. So it was last week, on one of those killer hot days in New York City that Miss Swift tied the knot with her very own prince charming named Travis Kelce.

As "People Magazine" reported, "The glowing bride walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Taylor Swift's iconic "Love Story" and read emotional vows paying tribute to her husband's kind spirit. The groom, beloved for his charismatic and happy-go-lucky personality, wore a white tuxedo and asked a friend of his to officiate the ceremony. It was, by all accounts, a "traditional" wedding, save for one rather untraditional component: The bride was 14-time Grammy winner Swift herself."

Oh, did I mention that the aisle the bride walked down was in Madison Square Garden in the presence of somewhere around 1,000 guests including hundreds of A-list celebrity friends and industry bigwigs? Fairy tale? Yes, I'd say so. The two lovebirds wrote their own vows and exchanged them for more than 20 minutes each. It was said that Travis was "very emotional" during the vows. They handed out embroidered handkerchiefs to guests during the ceremony to wipe away any tears. The custom made hankies were sewn with a "TT" interlocking heart logo along with a line from a Swift song "So it's gonna be forever…"

The bride wore white. So did the groom. She in a Christian Dior Haute Couture gown, he in a Christian Dior Haute Couture tux. Both wore Louboutin shoes. She was in Cartier jewelry. All in all, this was the fairy tale wedding every young lady wishes for. And it certainly should be, at an estimated total cost of somewhere between $35 million to $50 million. The ceremony was the culmination of a fairy tale courtship which began in 2023. So far so good.

As so often is the case, sadly, the best of fairy tale weddings many times do not add up to fairy tale ("they lived happily ever after") marriages. We all wish them the best of luck in the future, of course, but I remember other celebrity marriages that didn't end very happily. I think of Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe, also coincidently a marriage between an athletic hero and a media superstar. Same with Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez. We hope the Travis/Taylor coupling is one of the ones that work.

My best wish for them is to have what Jane and I had. A love and marriage that lasts 47 years. Til' death us do part, as it is said. And maybe for them it will last even longer.

That would be the true fairy tale ending to a fairy tale wedding. .
