Consumer Reports says ninety-two percent of Americans are cutting back on spending to try to ease inflation's burden. One good way of spending less is to comparison shop. I wonder if people in L.A. who pay three hundred dollars for a colon cleanse even know about Taco Bell's new five-dollar deal.

Travel and Leisure magazine forecast that one hundred thirty million Americans will travel by airline flight during the 2023 holiday season. The in-flight amenities are Spartan these days. On my last flight, I asked the flight attendant if they serve fish, and she said only in case of a water landing.

The National Retail Federation reports that shoplifting cost businesses one hundred and twelve billion dollars in lost inventory. Last weekend in L.A., a flash mob of teenage thieves were arrested after they stormed and looted a 7-Eleven. They were caught when they came back for a free drink refill.

Daily Variety reports Hollywood was rocked by grisly murders over weekend for which William Morris ex-president Sam Haskell's son is charged. He butchered his Asian wife and her parents, chopped them up, and stashed them in a dumpster. The Los Angeles Times murder critic gave it 5 OJs.

The New York Post reports the bankers' offices at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in San Francisco, Washington and Denver are wild workplaces with drinking, sex and lewd photos swapped. The Biden entourage arrived in San Francisco on Tuesday. Hunter went straight to the FDIC.

Senator Mark Wayne Mullin and Teamsters president Sean O' Brien challenged each other to a fist fight in hearings Tuesday. The same day Kevin McCarthy angrily elbowed a Member in the kidney. We owe a great thanks to Congress for taking politics and raising it to the level of professional wrestling.

Israel showed proof that Hamas headquarters is inside a Gaza Hospital. Three times in the early 1980s, I was in the 28-day program at Cedars Sinai Hospital where my dealers, creditors and angry girlfriends couldn't get through hospital security. So, for what it's worth, I get Hamas's defense strategy.

Iceland is bracing for a major volcano eruption which has been foreshadowed by hundreds of earthquakes last week. The volcano could erupt any day and spew smoke, fire and lava everywhere. John Kerry and Al Gore issued a joint statement declaring that a Volcano Tax could have prevented this.

The National Mall in Washington was the site of a huge demonstration Tuesday of Americans expressing their support for Israel. That afternoon, Israel and Hamas agreed to a cease fire in order to exchange hostages. Under the deal, Israel gets 200 Jews and the U.S. gets 2 million Palestinians.

The Walt Disney Company celebrated its one hundredth anniversary by releasing a new line of Disney toy characters in their Disney retail stores. They should watch their own movies. Hilariously, Walt Disney's Darth Vader action figure carries a warning on the label about it being a choking hazard.

Consumer Reports revealed that higher-income Americans will spend twenty billion dollars in beauty products in 2023. Some of these products really work. Last week in Beverly Hills, a nine-year-old girl disappeared after she used her mother's moisturizer that makes you look ten years younger.
