The Venice Movie Festival played a Danish movie called The Promised Land after which woke reporters ripped the director for lack of diversity because the cast is all Nordic. The movie was set in Denmark in 1760. It'd be another two hundred years before the Vikings even had a black running back.

The Wall Street Journal released a poll showing President Biden suffering a low approval rating due to inflation, led by the alarmingly high price of groceries and gas. Luckily we have calm hands in charge. The White House assured the country that inflation only affects people who need to buy stuff.

President Biden was in India for a G-20 Summit Saturday and backed a railroad extending from India that'd run all the way to the Mediterranean. It took him a few hours to get his bearings in India. When the Air Force One pilot announced they had arrived in New Delhi, Joe asked for a pastrami on rye.

President Biden's staff cut him off in a Vietnam press briefing before his Dog Face Pony Soldier stories had a chance to get mixed with his five draft deferments. During the Vietnam War, a beautiful Vietnamese girl saved Joe from capture by stashing him in a cellar. He was in San Francisco at the time.

Donald Trump reacted angrily on social media Friday against efforts by Democrats to disqualify him by invoking a 14th Amendment clause intended to keep Confederate officers from running for office. I say for crying out loud Trump's not a Southerner, he's German. Okay, maybe that doesn't help.

German tennis star Alex Zverev had a fan ejected from the U.S. Open Friday for distracting him by singing Deutschland Uber Alles. It was a Nazi phrase in the old German national anthem meaning Germany Over All. After a brief delay the German was able to bend his right arm again and resume play.

The UN reports a desperate need for donations to aid the situation in East Africa. The UN relief agency said just nine dollars will provide water and food for a family in Somalia. But don't let your heart rule your head, Safeway is offering a six-pack of Michelob for eight dollars and ninety-eight cents.

Digital Madness is a new book that shows how social media platforms were designed to be wildly addictive and distracting. Last week I sat down in a diner in the Valley and a sign over the counter read We Do Not Provide Wi-Fi, So Pretend Like It's 1973. So I paid ten cents for my coffee and lit a cigarette.
