• US News and World Report reported concerns in the Wall Street bond market Friday after the national debt passed another worrisome milestone. It was reported by the Treasury Department Friday the National Debt just reached $40 trillion. It's so bad that Ethiopia is doing a concert for us.
• Dolly Parton, the most iconic country music singer songwriter of her era died at 80 in Nashville, beloved for her tremendous musical talent and a lifelong love affair with the audience. Her death was announced on Tuesday morning. No word yet if Jolene has been called in for questioning.
• President Trump's trade negotiation threat to rename Lake Ontario and call it Lake America drew laughs Tuesday. But I don't think he's kidding. If that doesn't bring the Canadian government to terms, Trump's going to change the name of Canada itself and have everybody call it Gay North Dakota.
• President Trump showed reporters the new granite driveway at the White House along with the helipad which can double as a social event patio. He then showed the huge hole for the 65-foot-deep security bunker to be built under the ballroom. The bunker is built to withstand late night talk show monologues.
• Penn State weighed scrapping the Greek system after last week's coke bust with 14 fraternities now on suspension for hazing, forced alcohol and drug consumption, physical and mental abuse and servitude. So I hope the threat of suspension teaches these campus hot shots a lesson. The limit is 13.
• The California Energy Commission issued new earth-friendly standards for car tires that drew howls from the tire industry. Goodyear says it makes 70% of their tires illegal. Refusing to be upstaged, Gavin Newsom just signed an order requiring every car in California to be a horse by 2030.
• The State Department said ISIS is trying to kill white hunters in Mozambique who are there to shoot and kill Big Game. The white hunters are on guard to kill the ISIS terrorists if they see them first. The elephants and tigers are in the stands watching the action and rooting for a scoreless tie.
• Washington, D.C., hosted a Grand Prix race steeped in patriotism Sunday. It's also a triumph of the French language. If you pronounce Grand Prix in French, it's a thrilling car race, but if you pronounce Grand Prix as it's spelled in English, Grand Pricks, then it's just another name for Congress.
• The Weather Channel reported the brutal heat wave in the Southwest resulted in temperature in the 110s. It's withering. It's so hot in Texas that Sunday morning a Southern Baptist preacher in Lubbock began his sermon by glaring at the congregation and telling them, You just THINK this is hot!
• San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, for trying to pick up a hooker in a trailer park by offering her $160. I feel the local outrage. The East Palestine police aren't about to let some hot shot from San Francisco come cruising into their town trying to lower their prices
• Charles Manson family member Leslie Van Houton turned 77 Monday still on parole after 50 years in prison. In 2015, a dying Charlie decided to break up with his fiancĂ©e, a beautiful L.A. girl, when he learned she was marrying him so she could place his body under glass and sell tickets to see it. What does it say about L.A. women when Charles Manson is the voice of reason in the relationship?
