• WPVI-TV reports that a husky dog in Philadelphia was responsible for saving a neighborhood from a possible explosion just before Christmas.
Kobe's dog mom, Chanell Bell, said he twice dug a hole in her yard, "and that's something he never does."
So Bell used a gas detection device near the hole, which alerted her to a leak.
Philadelphia Gas Works repaired the line. When PETA found out about the near miss, they contacted Bell to say Kobe would receive a Heroic Dog Award.
That's when Bell sat down to write "The Dog That Saved the Block Before Christmas."
"I just think that something like this to happen is a good reminder for people to pay attention to their pets," she said. [WPVI, 1/20/2024].
