Personality Verses Policies

It never ceases to amaze me how many supposedly intelligent people will vote for a candidate for president based on personality or looks or race or gender. The office of President of the United States is undoubtedly the most powerful and influential public office not only in our country but in the world. The decisions made and the policies enacted there will affect millions of Americans and have the potential to shape our world.

The president has the responsibility to protect the citizens and keep America safe and free. All I expect from whomever sits in the Oval Office is to safeguard our homeland, allow its people to have the freedom to prosper and to keep bureaucratic big government at bay. How the president speaks is less important to me than what the president actually does. It’s actions that matter, not attitude. What ethnicity or sex the person happens to be is likewise unimportant. I vote for policy not personality.

It's not important for me to like the president. I don’t want the president to be my friend, I want the president to be a patriotic American who upholds law and order and the Constitution. I want the president to encourage American manufacturing, eliminate restrictive government regulations, and keep the economy strong. I want the president to keep America’s military strong, not woke and weak, and be in a position to do what it must to keep us free.

I want my president to secure our borders and stop illegal immigration by eliminating so-called sanctuary cities and disallowing illegal immigrants free healthcare, free food stamps, and free housing. If you are not a citizen and if you broke the law to come here, then you shouldn’t be rewarded. Our porous border has had too many gangs, drug cartels, human trafficking and criminals come across. The broken border has done enough damage, it needs to be fixed.

I want my president to make America energy independent again. I want the president to keep us out of wars, but at the same time I want the president to support our allies (like Israel) and stop sending money to our enemies (like Iran). The president needs to show unequivocal strength and resolve to our foes, as Reagan said, “Peace through strength.” I want my president to let Israel win its war against the Islamic terrorists, you know, those people who want to kill all the Jews (and then Americans after that).

I don’t want my president to push pronouns, equity in results, DEI, gender affirmation, climate change, racial reparations, or any other woke agenda. Government needs to stay out of culture wars. As James Carville said to Bill Clinton, “It’s the economy stupid.” It’s the Constitution, stupid. It’s the border stupid. It’s the nuclear family stupid. It’s the Judeo-Christian values, stupid. It’s E pluribus Unum, stupid. It’s the Founding Fathers vision, stupid.

The president’s demeanor is relatively unimportant as long as the president is doing the right things for our country and its citizens. “But he sends mean tweets!” “But he calls people names!” “But he speaks in hyperbole!” Who cares, really? I’ll take a strong, blowhard, mean tweeting president who keeps us in peace and prosperity over a weak woke lying socialist who sides with America’s enemies any time.

It's policy, stupid. Not personality. Not race. Not gender.
