I knew what the Walt Disney company was all about. I knew its core values and I knew its legacy. I knew and worked alongside the same people who worked with Walt Disney himself, who were there from the beginning. I knew the history of the company and its various businesses. You could say I grew up at that company.
I was there when it changed its corporate identity from Walt Disney Productions to The Walt Disney Company in the mid-eighties. The name may have changed, but the company's mission and goals were as steadfast as ever; to continue to create innovative, high-quality entertainment in movies, television, theme parks, publications, and all other consumer products.
I was proud to be working at Disney, proud of what I did and proud of what the place stood for; solid family values and great entertainment. Nobody created animated films and characters better than Disney. Disneyland grew out of the films. It was created as a safe, clean place for families to enjoy together and celebrate America's history and heroes. "The Happiest Place on Earth" Walt called it.
The company I worked for and loved for all those years is now completely gone. Although things have been slowly changing over the past couple of decades, what has happened recently has really put the final nail in the coffin. The company has made an about-face from pro-America to pro-China. From pro-family, to profanity. From creativity to crap. The company today honors none of the traditions that Disney stood for. Today's Disney Company is 100% opposite from what it once was.
The Walt Disney Company of today has taken the progressive left side in the culture wars and supports all things "woke." They have made a conscious decision to back every policy espoused by America-hating Marxist groups such as ANTIFA and BLM, which are dedicated to the destruction of American values, traditional religion, and the American family. In short Disney has turned its back on its own country.
Monday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the Parental Rights in Education Act, which bars classroom-led discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity, such as transgenderism, for children in kindergarten through third grade. Florida's bill protects children from being exposed to adult sexual content stemming from gender theory. The bill also ensures parents have a right to know what is going on in their children's schools.
Disney lashed out against the measure, calling for it to be repealed and promised to use its influence to challenge it in court.
After Disney's statement, Gov. DeSantis blasted the hypocrisy of Disney. "The Walt Disney Co filmed Mulan near Uighur genocide camps & then thanked the people who run those camps in the credits," the Florida senator said. "But they are outraged that Florida schools will not be indoctrinating 5-year-olds on gender identity."
Last year the studio filmed its live-action movie, Mulan, in Xinjiang, and thanked eight government entities in that region including the public security bureau in Turpan, a city where several concentration camps are located. China is overseeing the systematic rape of ethnic minority women in that area. The BBC reported that Uyghur women in those concentration camps have been repeatedly raped, sexually abused, and tortured.
Gov. DeSantis has said that the new bill is about providing protections so that parents know they can send their young kids to school without them being sexualized, without a school telling a young girl, for example, that she may really be a boy, and if schools are trying to do things that impact the health and well-being of the kids and they're undertaking certain services, that parents have a right to know that and must provide consent for it.
Sen. Marco Rubio pointed out that in its opposition to the measure, Disney claimed that the legislation damages the rights and safety of the "LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country." So, how does keeping age-inappropriate discussions on sexual orientation out of kindergarten classrooms jeopardize the safety of Disney's LGBT employees? Answer: of course, it doesn't.
This bill is supported by a huge majority of Florida parents who simply do not want the state brainwashing their children on progressive gender identity issues. The Disney Company has sided against the parents.
The Walt Disney Company, the one started by Walt and Roy is dead. The name may be the same but there's no soul there anymore. Like the movie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the pods have taken over.
