When I heard the news that Jim Acosta had been booted from CNN today, I thought of the Frank Sinatra song, "High Hopes" which had the line "Oops there goes another rubber tree plant." In keeping with the situation, I changed the lyric to "Oops there goes another lying scrum bag." Rumor had it that CNN was going to move Acosta to midnights in an obvious demotion, but evidently Acosta decided to quit instead. Boo, hoo.
Acosta now joins the list of other CNN's fake news anchors who have been ousted, such as Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo, and Brian Stelter. You might remember when Acosta was White House correspondent for the network he made a name for himself by bullying the female White House staff, particularly President Trump's press secretaries. Once he even got into it with President Trump himself, showing no respect at all for the man or the office. His sole objective was to promote himself and he did just that, he soon became known as a grandstanding pushy coward and obnoxious self-serving jerk.
He regularly made up the news to suit his personal political left-wing ideology. He spread misinformation and invented his own stats. He was caught many times in lies, even lying about meaningless trivial things (in that regard he was following in the footsteps of our former demented, crooked president).
In their story of Acosta's exit, Breitbart described him as, "a dumber version of Jake Tapper, a more obnoxious version of Brian Stelter, and a fatter version of Erin Burnett."
Tuesday Acosta announced he would launch a new media venture and threatened in his typical nasty way, "To President Trump and his allies, you may think you have silenced me, but guess again. ‘The Jim Acosta Show' is coming soon." Hmmm. It reminds me of Richard Nixon's farewell line to the press on losing the California gubernatorial race in 1962 when he said, "You don't have Nixon to kick around anymore, because gentlemen, this is my last press conference." A bitter, sarcastic last remark before going home to cry.
President Trump cheered Acosta's departure in a post on Truth Social, calling him "one of the worst and most dishonest reporters in journalistic history." Wow, that takes in a lot of fake news liars. Acosta can take pride in the fact that our president puts him at the top of the list. The liar, liar pants on fire list.
This all comes on the heels of a major CNN restructuring that includes 200 job cuts, about 6% of their workforce. The restructuring follows CNN's attempt to retain viewers, particularly since President Trump's election win. Not only CNN, but NBC News, The Washington Post, and the Associated Press have also announced job cuts as part of cost-saving measures. Meanwhile, Fox News is doing bang up business, with their ratings higher than all the others.
Why is it that so much of the legacy news media just can't figure out how to compete with Fox? Maybe they need to venture out of their elitist bubbles and get in touch with the vast majority of Americans in this country, people who don't happen to live in woke land, Americans who are hungry for truth and fair news reporting.
It's not that so much of the country is necessarily "conservative." It's simply that people don't want to be lied to and told what to think. Americans are not stupid; they know that the vast majority of the media have a progressive agenda that they push in their so-called news stories. That's why so many people have such a low regard for journalism today. If the press just reported the facts and managed at least an attempt at being unbiased their ratings and prestige would improve. It really isn't that hard a thing to figure out.
