The Electoral College holds the meeting of state Electors Tuesday and votes to certify the election of Donald Trump as president. There's great relief the political season over. Americans can now get back to the issue that really divides us today, the question of whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

Martha's Vineyard will mark the 50th anniversary of the 1975 movie Jaws that was filmed there. I don't want to say Hollywood was high as a kite in the '70s, but the decade began with the 1970 movie Airport about a pilot who saves a passenger airliner from crashing. The pilot was played by Dean Martin.

ABC announced Carrie Underwood will headline the 2025 Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve show in Times Square. Years ago, I was hired to fly back to New York City on New Year's Eve to perform for what was billed as the Ball Drop Ceremony. Imagine my surprise when it was a Bar Mitzvah.

CNN noted the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah is the same day as Christmas this year. It evokes memories. My first December in L.A. in 1976, Mitzi Shore invited me to her Hanukkah dinner and when they passed the Menorah to me at the table I closed my eyes, made a wish and blew out the candles.

The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris staged a spectacular grand reopening ceremony on Saturday night in Paris, France. For the re-consecration service, Jill Biden asked Donald Trump to sit in the balcony box with her. It was a gracious gesture from our current president to the incoming president.

Pete Hegseth vowed to Senators he won't touch a drop of liquor if they confirm him as Secretary of Defense. In 1864 Grant quit drinking for a month and lost the Battle of Cold Harbor and nearly the war, before he resumed drinking and defeated Lee. Denounce liquor all you want, but it freed the slaves.

Daniel Penny was acquitted of homicide by a New York jury after he saved subway riders from a vicious attacker. The DA will have no white heroes in New York. In Mission Impossible 9, Tom Cruise saves New York from a nuclear explosion, then Alvin Bragg charges Cruise with harvesting mushrooms without a license.

Mother Jones reported that use of psychedelic mushrooms is now legal in Colorado and Oregon while the mushrooms have been decriminalized in Washington D.C., Detroit and Chicago. However, calls to poison centers have spiked since legalization. All mushrooms are edible, some of them only once.

Fox News reported Luigi Mangione was arrested in the murder of HMO CEO Brian Thompson Monday. It makes sense now. When I heard that the CEO was executed on the streets of New York by a shooter named Luigi Mangione, my first thought for the victim was, this is the life we have chosen.

Donald Trump told NBC's Meet the Press he plans to deport illegal aliens, pardon the jailed January 6 protestors, and extend tax cuts. He wisely said he won't prosecute Joe Biden over all the money he's somehow made. Americans have always felt that a great comedian is worth every penny he gets paid.
