No wonder most Americans hate politics

http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | The fur is flying, the cat fight is on, and it's politics as usual in Washington, DC. The anti-Bush crowd has gone ga-ga over their latest ginned-up political scandal.

First it was quagmire-gate, then war plan-gate, then pottery-gate, then riot-gate, then WMD-gate. And now we find our summer nights filled with squeals from the left on their latest creation, Uranium-gate.

I kid you not. Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich is calling uranium-gate a "stain on America." Hmmm, so now Democrats are worried about stains. Others are beating their chests and expressing outrage that the President used this uranium lie to sell the Iraqi war to the American people.

The argument is so disingenuous that I have to laugh.

Is there really an intellectually honest American out there who will tell you they supported the war in Iraq because Saddam Hussein tried to buy nuke juice in Africa? If so, they must have been sleeping for the two months leading up to the war, because during that time the president, Colin Powell and Donald Rumsfeld never once used that argument leading up to the war. Not once. And the public has known for months that the uranium report was universally dismissed as a fraud.

So why the sudden emergence of Uranium-gate? I guess because it's the only scandal the president's political enemies have to trot out this week.

CIA director George Tenet has taken the blame, and there's no doubt the American people will ignore the latest dust-up regarding the war. But rest assured, after this politically driven controversy fades, there will be another filling the void.
