Whiner Assad still doesn't get it
http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com |
This week, in a speech to the Syrian
Parliament, Assad defended Palestinian suicide
bombers saying this is the only way the average
Palestinian could fight Israel "So he was obliged
to take his bomb by hand and detonate it. Even
Yasser Arafat publicly condemns suicide
bombings, even if it's followed by a, "but it's
Israel's fault."
THIS IS effectively a call by Syria, a nation
starving for international approval for the continued targeting
of civilians. How ironic in that same speech Assad laments
the lack of power, respect and influence that Arab nations
wield on major events.
You can believe Israel needs to get out of the
Settlements, that they
need to offer more incentives to the Palestinians at the
negotiating table, or that they need to take more care to
protect civilians when executing or arresting terrorists.
But no leader of a nation that wants to wield more
influence on major world events can possibly expect to be
taken seriously when defending the infliction of as many
civilian casualties as possible - where the goal is simply to
kill and maim as many bus riders or shoppers as they can. If
Assad wants answers as to why Syria does not have
influence on major world events, he start by taking a good
hard look in the mirror.
