PALM BEACH, Fla. — President Donald Trump has revoked security clearances for several senior officials in Joe Biden's administration, including his secretary of state, Antony Blinken, and his national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, denying them continued access to classified information.
The decision, reported earlier by the New York Post and confirmed by a White House official, came after Trump said late Friday that he was revoking Biden's security clearance.
In addition to Blinken and Sullivan, the president also revoked clearances for Lisa Monaco, the former deputy attorney general, and at least two officials in New York who had investigated him: New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
James's spokesperson dismissed Trump's actions, saying, "What security clearance?"
The spokesperson added that James would continue to pursue challenges to the Trump administration.
"This is just another attempt to distract from the real work the attorney general is doing to defend the rights of New Yorkers and all Americans," the spokesperson said.
James led a group of state attorneys general in filing a lawsuit to stop some of the Trump administration's latest actions. Early Saturday, a federal judge issued an emergency order prohibiting the Trump administration from giving access to political appointees, special government employees or others not authorized from accessing personal and financial data on millions of Americans kept at the Treasury Department.
Other Biden officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
