"Hair Bandit" gets eight years | (UPI) -- Michael Howard's fetish for cutting off women's hair has netted him eight years in prison, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The so-called "Hair Bandit" pleaded guilty to charges related to cutting off the locks of nine women and a girl on the streets of Long Beach and East Los Angeles.

Howard, 48, a bicycle shop owner, was accused of grabbing women from behind as they stood or walked on main streets and shearing their hair with scissors or a knife.

Reports say when police searched Howard's house they found a carpet of hair covering the floor, mounds of it on the bed and in the closet -- along with photos of severed ponytails.
