State says it's $orry, over and over | Roy and Neta Jackson of Newport News, Va., can't quite figure out state government, the Daily Press reports.

The Virginia Division of Child Support Enforcement first tried to bill the Jacksons for $0 -- later apologizing for a collection agency error.

The paper says the state then sent the Jacksons a $250 rebate check, and then another check, and another and another until they were so sorry, Neta says, they sent a total of $1,075. "Now they're really sorry -- they want it back," she told the paper.

Roy Jackson, by the way, hasn't owed any child support in more than two years. The Jacksons say they will return the money once a state official explains what's going on -- just to make sure they really don't have the money coming.
