Consumer Reports

Hunt's tomato sauce on recall list | (UPI) -- The Food and Drug Administration reports Conagra Grocery is recalling Hunt's Tomato Sauce. The product involved is the sauce in 8 ounce cans.

The coding on the cases of the products is "AA26U." An additional character may be added. It is used by the company as a "time of day" marker on the production line that canned the sauce. On the top of the can is an additional line reading "SW2," though the second character also could be an X or Y, rather than a W.

The reason for the recall is some cans have been swelling, rendering the product unsafe for human consumption.

More than 12,000 cases of the sauce are involved in the recall. The product was distributed nationally; some went to Mexico.

Consumers should check their containers of the product in the listed size can for any swelling. If a problem is suspected, return the can or cans to place of purchase. The recall number, if needed by the grocer, is F-195-3.
