"Buddy, can you spare a dime?"
It's one of those phrases that conjures up images of what in our pre-PC times used to be called a "bum" or "tramp", holding out a tin cup and begging for help.
Certain readers here including, unfortunately, family members feel that when I make an appeal to sustain JWR (and at this time, to get the staff that I need to sustain my health, as well), I'm acting no different than some hobo.
Yet, here I am asking for your help.
That's because I, obviously, disagree. There's no doubt that you do, too.
I will not bore you with details of the economics of the Internet. In all likelihood, the particulars of why stand-alone websites are different from electronic versions of print publications doesn't interest you.
What does interest you is having a site that you know will be there when you want it and need it; a quality destination that you find:
For more than 12 years, I delivered just that. And I did it alone. As much as I'd like to continue doing so, I no longer can because of serious health issues.
At this time, folks are reducing their tax burdens as they empower the causes they hold dear through "end of year donations." If you haven't already, PLEASE partner with me in helping to build an even better JWR , from which you and so many others will continue to gain.
Normally, I make an appeal between Thanksgiving and New Year's. It helps guarantee that I continue publishing in the coming year. This year, sadly, I was spending that fundraising time in a hospital. Now, I'm recuperating. For the last few weeks, I have been unable to produce the level of quality material that you are accustomed to.
Please do not hold this against me.
Our donations are down significantly from last year. This may well have to do with the overall economic situation. But I'm convinced that many readers believe that JWR may not survive and, therefore, are withholding their support. But doing this will guarantee JWR will fold.
While I'm recuperating I arranged for substitute editors (or, as they've dubbed themselves, "Binyamin's helpers"). As my health returns and my doctors assure me it will JWR will be significantly improved. You'll have a new, modern website that will be easier for you to use. Coming along with it will be the addition of new contributors and new features. And, believe it or not, all of this will make it easier for me to bring you the best publication of its kind on the web.
Your donation will help make this all possible.
So, let me ask you this: "Buddy, can you spare a dime?" A dime? No, really! I have technology set up so a $2 tax deductible donation can be deducted from your credit card or checking account each month. That's a dime-a-day (10 cents a weekday x4 weeks=$2 a month). If you change your mind, and decide that you no longer wish to support JWR, let me know and I will cancel your "subscription" immediately. If you wish to give less or more each month, just enter the amount.
You can also make a one time tax deductible charitable contribution of ANY amount and given the financial situation, we do mean ANY amount by clicking here or by making out a check and mailing it to the sponsoring organization at:
Please note on the "memo line" of your check it is for the Internet educational project.
For 12 years JWR has been the pioneering source for news, analysis and reporting for the values you hold dear. Thank you for your readership, for your prayers and for your generous support.
In SINCERE gratitude and friendship,
Binyamin L. Jolkovsky
