Why the most powerful political dynasty succeeds
The Bush family dynasty is the most powerful political dynasty in the history of America. But what exactly is the secret to their success?
I've had a great opportunity. I've had an opportunity to fly with George W. Bush in Air Force One alone, one-on-one, and talk to him for a couple of hours. I had a chance to ride with George W. Bush and Jeb, both in a limousine, the presidential limousine, again, away from the crowds, one-on-one. I've had a chance to stand next to their father when it became clear that George W. would be the nest president of the United States.
And you know what struck me about my time alone with the Bushes? It wasn't the fact that they were talking about politics, because they weren't, or that they were taken by their power and their success, because they weren't.
What struck me is, every time you got these very powerful people alone, they always returned to the same subject, their families.
The crowds weren't there.
The cameras were off.
They were alone one-on-one, and they always went back talking about their father and talking about their mother and talking about the importance that their parents had on making them into the men that they were today.
You know what? If that is the most powerful political dynasty in American history, we could use more dynasties like that.
