Time for feds to pull the trigger on a new law
http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com |
Since September 11 2001, the feds have been taking part in a debating society exercise, taking their time on the issue of whether we should allow our pilots to carry guns in the cockpit.
First Washington said no. Then they said maybe. And, finally, finally, they said yes. But it's obvious that some bureaucrats in the Transportation Department don't like the idea of arming our pilots with weapons that could stop future terror attacks.
The administration keeps dragging its feet and that's placing you and your family in danger.
It's a proven fact that guns deter crime. But what about terror attacks? Well, ask yourself this question. If you were told you could enter a fight with your fists, a box cutter, or an armed gun, what would you choose? Asked a different way, how many lives would have been lost on September 11 if just a handful of pilots were attacked by terrorists with a few box cutters? Survey says 19, which also happens to be the exact number of terrorists responsible for the greatest attack on American soil on that clear September day two years ago.
Let the terrorists carry the box cutters. Give my pilots a gun. And we'll all be a lot safer.
