reality check Who won the last battle in the Israel-Palestine war? Thomas Friedman of the New York Times thinks it was a draw. Palestinians proved they could rattle Israel; Israel proved they couldn't get away with it. Sounds like a reasonable analysis -- until you study a little history and realize that the question -- who won? -- is the wrong question. It reveals an ignorance of history.
controversy!
Today, one need only look to the venomous Israel-bashing of academia to see that the false messiah of liberal and progressive ideology has turned on the Jewish people. If the horrific events of the last year are forcing American Jews to reconsider their political assumptions, we would be well served by reconsidering cultural assumptions as well.
shticks and groans We are spending millions and millions on the "war on terrorism" and the "peace process." How utterly stupid! There is but one fail-proof way to deal with those who want to destroy us.
