Keeping a record of everything you do well, and do right, is also important, as are building a network, being a team player, and asking for new responsibilities (even before the official promotion). In the article "How to get a raise or promotion in 2010," MSNBC contributing writer Eve Tahmincioglu suggests it is time to take advantage of the recovering economy. She says one key way to advance is to think up ways to save your employer money, then asking to be rewarded for your successes. Part of that idea is to "think like a CEO" — by promoting your company and its products every chance you get.
