10 ways to feel complete when you're feeling empty

Do you ever feel like your usual spark that keeps you going is running low? Or maybe everyone around you seems confident and secure with who they are, but you feel like something is missing?

Well, in these times of self-doubt and confusion, here are a few tips to help you to not only discover yourself but to complete yourself and fill the void.

Forgive yourself

Forgiveness is something we have all been trying to perfect since childhood, and we often hear about how positive and light one can feel after forgiving someone. But the most difficult person to forgive is yourself. Forgive yourself for your past mistakes, and cleanse your mind, body and soul of any feelings of remorse or regret. The first step in finding yourself is starting over, and it is never too late to do that.

Let go of the past

The past should stay in the past. If you have been hurt, wronged, or you simply wish you had a time machine, it is time to accept that you cannot change the past. Learn to move forward. Do it in small steps, and set small goals to move on from painful memories from the past. Detox from toxic people, situations and habits. Your future is a clean, blank canvas and you control the paintbrush. Do not let the past keep you from taking risks and moving on.

Find what you love to do

Remember a time when you were once blissfully happy? Find what brings you joy again! In the hustle and bustle of the world, it's easy to forget what once brought you happiness before responsibilities started to weigh you down. If you already know what your true love in life is, discover it again and fully engage yourself in it. Work on your hobbies, serve others and spend time with your loved ones. Do what makes you happy!

Escape from your comfort zone

It is called the "comfort" zone for a reason. It's comfortable. And although that is not a bad thing, growth doesn't come from being comfortable. If you are terrified of leaving from your comfort zone, begin with small steps. Try a new food, meet a new person, try a new hobby. Growth comes from trying new things. The world is full of endless exploration and opportunities. The worst that could happen in leaving your comfort zone is that you will never want to go back.

Listen to your heart

We go about life answering to the opinions, thoughts and requests of others, but what about our own? You do not need anyone's validation but your own. There is nothing more worthwhile than your own unique outlook on the world. Stop and listen to what your heart is telling you. What do you truly want out of life, and what do you need to do to reach those goals? The most rewarding thing in life is realizing and following your own dreams.

Discover the world

Have you seen all you have wanted to see in this world? I highly doubt it. Even a lifelong world traveler has not seen every crevice of the world. Take a spontaneous trip by yourself, or with your closest friends and family, and go somewhere you have always wanted to. If money is restricting your ability to travel, there are many different tips to travel on a budget or there is probably an adventure awaiting your own backyard. Stop and explore the places you pass on your way to work each day. There are wonderful experiences and thrilling adventures around every corner.

Build relationships

One of the many things people long for in life, is the constant presence of close friends and a loving family. Work on strengthening your current relationships and building them with new people you meet. Friendship and family isn't about quantity, it's about quality.

Ask for help

If you are struggling to truly find your cup of tea in life, ask for some help boosting your confidence. A parent, a teacher, a coach, a mentor or a friend can give you great advice for discovering what your purpose is. Sometimes expressing your concern to others is what fully opens your eyes to the opportunities around you.

Believe in yourself

You can become anything you set your mind to. You can be anyone you want to be and achieve the greatest accomplishments. Do not let your dreams slip between the cracks on the road of life. Do things that will be worth your while and help you grow. Believing in yourself can be difficult at first, but never forget the amazing things you are truly capable of. Push yourself, work hard and do not give up. There is a lesson in every triumph and every failure. Take those lessons to heart and follow your dreams.

Complete yourself

As humans, we often depend on others to validate our worth. We grow to believe that being single means we cannot be complete until that place in our heart is filled with another person. The greatest accomplishment you will ever have in life is being able to complete yourself. When you are comfortable in your own skin and have true confidence in who you are, doubts and fears become miminal. Become your own best friend and spend a day just getting to know yourself. Loving yourself is the first step in allowing others to love you and enjoying your life to the fullest.
